To have a society free from the burden of poverty and violence

The core purpose of the Department of Enterprise Development is to ensure sustainability of MIFUMI the organization and that of her beneficiaries. We do this as part of our conviction that domestic violence causes poverty which causes domestic violence. We are therefore reducing the burden of poverty among the marginalized group, especially women through empowerment schemes that will lead them to financial independence.

» Activities Fair trade: One of the main activities MIFUMI is undertaking to achieve the above objectives is engagement in Fair trade. To this side the organization is in the process of setting up a sim sim / ground nut paste processing plant. The concept is simple: Encourage women to grow sim sim or ground nuts as outgrowers. Buy it from them at a fair price, above capitalistic on-going market prices. Processing, package and sell for a profit. Encourage the outgrowers to buy shares in the processing plant, so they are suppliers, but partners in business.
» Investment: Another activity that MIFUMI is exploring toward organizational sustainability is investment. This is at conceptual stages.
